Firing Range application to be discussed

01 August, 2007

An application to construct a six-lane firing range at Chetwynd Barracks is to be discussed in September.

The original application was submitted in March to Broxtowe Borough Council by Templeman Design’s of Norfolk to construct a 25m six-lane firing range including shelter and bunding at Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell.

Noise Assessment

However, there have been several amendments to the application – one included providing details of a noise assessment.

The application will now go before Broxtowe Borough Council’s Development Control Committee in September.

A spokesman for Broxtowe Borough Council told NG9: “A revised application was submitted in 12 March 2007 for the above development. The previous application was withdrawn due to the lack of a detailed noise assessment.

“Subsequently a noise assessment was completed by the applicants and submitted with this revised planning application.

Further Consideration

“During the considerations of this planning application it was necessary to request that further information on the noise assessment be submitted and was received on 25 June 2007.

“The application is likely to go to Committee on 5 September 2007, but this has not yet been confirmed as further consideration of the additional information is required.”
