'A Beeston Christmas'
23 November, 2007
An initiative devised by the Beeston Business Forum in conjunction Broxtowe Borough Council, it hopes to encourage more people than ever to choose Beeston as their prime shopping location.
Competitions
Starting with the popular Christmas window display competition, shoppers are this year being asked to identify their favourite shop window by visiting the website www.abeestonchristmas.co.uk or by calling free phone number 0800 845 6233.
All voters will be automatically entered into a free prize draw to see Beeston from the sky in a hot air balloon.
There will also be the chance for shoppers to enter the 12 days of Christmas competition by identifying characters from the popular Carol in various shop windows across the town.
Again by registering their vote either via the website or by phone, entrants will have the chance to win a selection of prizes kindly donated by local businesses.
More colourful
The Forum have also decided to make the tree in the square a bit more colourful this year by donating banners to be placed around the safety barriers at the bottom.
Finally on from 1pm on Saturday, December 8, everyone is welcome to join Councillors Pat and Lynda Lally on Broadgate Park for a mince pie to announce the winners of the competitions.
Carols John Clifford School Choir along with Pleasley Miners Welfare Band will be performing a selection of Carols. This event has been made possible with funding from Councillor Pat Lally via the Nottinghamshire County Council Building Better Communities.
Chris Timson, Chair of the Beeston Business Forum said “This year we are trying to add that extra something to the festive celebrations by getting the shoppers of Beeston involved. After all, they are important to the success of Beeston.
”Fun and Friendly Place to Shop”
“This is just one of the events that the Beeston Business Forum have planned for the coming year in the hope that Beeston is perceived as a fun and friendly place to shop.”
