Beeston student receives special award
11 February, 2008
400 guests filled the Crowne Plaza’s Royal Suite on Thursday, February 7, to see students from a wide range of courses and centres receive medals and certificates, demonstrating that Castle College is able to offer an increased number of learning opportunities for a wide range of students across Nottingham.
Four special awards, including a student from Beeston, were presented on the evening to students who have been considered by their tutors to have been particularly outstanding during the past academic year.
Susan Coy, 44 from Beeston was delighted to receive the Henry Clark award for her achievements on an Environmental Conservation course at Attenborough Nature Reserve, offered in association with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV).
Susan attended the Ceremony with her two proud daughters and was presented with her award by Dave Ashurst, BTCV National Training Development Manager.
Before joining the Conservation courses Susan spent 25 years bringing up four children, but she faced the challenge of returning to learning and threw herself into lots of new situations.
She once famously said: “My house is a tip but the nature reserve is better for it!”
