15-year-old pleads guilty to Beeston robbery

A 15-year-old has pleaded guilty to robbing two women in Beeston on Tuesday, October 2, 2007.

The boy was charged with two counts of robbery after snatching a handbag from a 75-year-old woman on City Road at 11.10am and a shopping bag from an 84-year-old woman on Endsleigh Gardens at 11.15am.

Shaken

The woman whose handbag was stolen on City Road was knocked to the ground and she was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment to cuts on her hands and head. Both women were shaken by the incidents.

The boy, who is from Beeston, appeared at Nottingham Youth Court on Thursday, October 18, 2007, where he was ordered to complete a detention and training order in secure accommodation for 18 months.

”Vulnerable and Elderly Ladies targeted.”

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “These were nasty robberies where vulnerable and elderly ladies were targeted. The offender showed a total disregard for their safety.”

Pc 2665 Ben Rosser, the officer who detained the youth, will be nominated for a Divisional Commendation for his part in the arrest.

Pc Rosser proactively apprehended the youth after becoming suspicious of his behaviour after seeing him running across The Square.
