Stapleford Bureau receives donation

26 July, 2007

Stapleford Volunteer Bureau (SVB) has received £500 to help fund a vital service.

The SVB, which is based at Wesley Place on Pinfold Road, organises ‘Sixty in South Broxtowe’.

The event takes place every Wednesday between 10am and 3pm at the Maycliffe Hall, Stapleford and offers support for the over-60s to maintain their independence.

The day-long session includes a toe-nail cutting service as well as complementary therapies as well as a hot two-course meal, and there is access to information from other service providers.

Other services on offer include voluntary transport, DIY, gardening, decorating, laundry, cleaning, shopping, befriending, walking, social activities and exercise sessions.

The £500 was donated from the Yorkshire Bank Charitable Trust.

Janice Knight of the Stapleford Bureau said: “This donation will enable us to continue the nail cutting and complementary therapy sessions, which currently have a waiting list, but provide considerable benefit to our clients, most of whom are over 75 years old.”

Julie Spibey, manager of the Yorkshire Bank in Beeston, who visited the Stapleford Bureau to present the cheque, added: “The Yorkshire Bank Charitable Trust is pleased to support this particular charity.

“The money was requested for something very specific and we felt we wanted to do something a bit different. We hope that many people will benefit from the donation.”
