Car Sharing online

09 June, 2008

car-share-june Today, Monday, June 9 is National liftshare Day and Broxtowe Borough Council is supporting the event by promoting Nottinghamshare - the online car-sharing scheme that helps people to pair up with others commuting the same route.

The Nottinghamshare scheme will be promoted to staff, local organisations, businesses and the general public in the Borough as part of its aim to help reduce travel costs as well as congestion and air pollution to improve the quality of life for all its residents.

Free and Secure

The website www.nottinghamshare.com is free to use and secure. So far hundreds of people from across Nottinghamshire are signed up to the site. It is part of a national scheme currently used by 114,000 people provided by the specialist car share company lift share.

The website works in three easy steps. Log on to www.nottinghamshare.com, enter personal details and register a journey. The system will then automatically search for all possible travel companions and gives the user the ability to contact them.

Councillor Michael Rich, Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, said: “With petrol and diesel costs rising almost daily what better time than this to find out how to beat the rising fuel costs and at the same time benefit from fewer traffic jams, reduced journey times and a healthier air to breath.”
