Thieves sought covered in pink ink

16 May, 2008

cash-machine-theft-stapleford Police are urging the public to keep their eyes peeled and help find three men who are covered in pink ink following a cash machine theft.

The thieves drove a lorry into a stand-alone ATM machine, Toton Garage, Toton Lane, Stapleford, at around 3.50am on Wednesday, May 14.

The three men then stole cash boxes from inside the machine before running off towards the A52.

Pink anti-theft dye sprayed from the machine during the raid and police believe all the robbers will be covered in the ink. The offenders used a stolen white-cabbed flat bed truck, which was left at the garage following the theft.

Detective Inspector Stuart McHattie said: “It is very likely one or all of these offenders have been sprayed with the pink ink.

“This dye is designed to stay on an offender’s skin for a long time and cannot easily be washed off.

“If anyone spots a man showing stains of pink they should call Nottinghamshire Police or Crimestoppers immediately, so we can go and apprehend them.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 0115 967 0999 and ask to speak to West Bridgford CID on 6134. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
