A Bramcote-based chess club has been voted Club of the Year!
West Nottingham Chess Club has won the 2007 English Chess Federation (ECF) Club of the Year award!
The award was presented to the club by ECF Treasurer Robert Richmond, a member of West Bridgford Chess Club and was followed by a short blitz tournament.
A spokesman for the club said: “The ECF has recognised our success on and off the board, which is a tribute to everyone – organisers, team captains, players and parents – who have contributed to this achievement.
”Really Making Progress
“It’s only four years since the club (then known as Stapleford) won the ECF Small Club of the Year award, so we’re really making progress.”
The club meets on Monday evenings from 6.15 pm until 7.30 pm for juniors and from 7.30 pm for adults and juniors involved in league matches at Bramcote Memorial Hall, Church Street.
The club welcomes players of all ages and standards – you can come along and play casual games in a friendly atmosphere, or join one of our teams in the Nottinghamshire League or the Derby and District League.
