Chilwell Man gets ASBO
18 June, 2008
A prolific thief has been given an anti-social behaviour order, which bans him completely from Beeston town centre and prevents him from drinking alcohol in Nottingham City Centre. Christopher Belton, 37 of Dale Lane, Chilwell was involved in numerous incidents of anti- social behaviour within the Borough of Broxtowe and Nottingham City Centre including shop theft, being drunk and disorderly and public order offences.
The innovative order was gained in cross-border partnership between Broxtowe Borough Council and Nottingham City Council’s Community Protection Directorate.
Sgt Paul Harris of Community Protection welcomed the order; saying: “I think it’s fantastic that we are able to work in partnership to deal with problem individuals who are causing trouble across Nottinghamshire.
”Protect the Rights”
“We look forward to working closely with Broxtowe Borough Council in the future to ensure we protect the rights of Nottinghamshire’s people in living peaceful lives.
“This order proves that we will do all we can to target and deal with those who do not respect these rights.”
It is hoped that by targeting ringleaders of Anti-social Behaviour, the Council can provide some relief to the communities that are suffering from the actions of these individuals.
The Order will stay in place until 13 May 2010. Any breach of the Order should be reported to Nottinghamshire Police on 0115 9430999 or in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
