What makes a good piece of writing into a great one?
Proofreading a document before finally sending it out into the world makes a big difference. So many people are in a hurry to finish off a piece of work, be it a short article or a book, that they don't give the time to the one stage that might make the difference to it being published - or not.
Proofreading involves reading steadily and slowly, ie. allowing the time to spot errors in spelling and grammar. However, when I read a document, I also check that the layout looks good; above all, I ensure consistency throughout.
Without this attention to detail, a piece of work can look decidedly ragged. However, if proofreading has been done then it will shine out from other work.
Believe me, it’s well worth spending time (and possibly money) on this process.
