Hockey Partnership for National League Club

10 July, 2007

The South Nottingham College Athlete Performance Programmes (APP) is to increase it’s sporting provision through a new official partnership with National League Hockey Club, Beeston.

The College has formed an association with Beeston for the 2007/08 Season and the foreseeable future with the Hockey Performance Programme (HPP) to commence in late September 2007.

The College will provide 12 - 20 places on The HPP for students across a variety of full-time academic courses.

The students will receive professional hockey coaching at Beeston Hockey Club from Club coaching staff and will represent South Nottingham College in The British Colleges Of Sport East Midlands League on Wednesday afternoons.

Opportunities

In addition, the partnership allows college students to access Club training nights at Beeston Hockey Club, both for men and women, hopefully with the potential for progression into The Club’s Senior National League programme in the future.

The partnership will also create opportunities for students to take coaching qualifications in hockey that may be used on Sunday mornings in The Beeston Hockey Colts section, contributing to the development of youngsters between the ages of 6 and 16 years.

Graham Griffiths, 1st Team Manager at Beeston Hockey Club said, “We are delighted to have established liks with South Nottingham College.

“It offers another route into further education for our junior members and a passageway for students at the college to join one of the most successful clubs in the country.

“Beeston H.C. are one of the top six clubs in England; this success has been achieved by offering the highest quality management and coaching in the area.”
