Continental Market returns to Beeston

18 October, 2007

The popular Continental Market returns to Beeston when professional market organisers, Amber Markets, will bring market traders from across the Continent to Beeston Square.

The market will run from Thursday, November 1 until Saturday, November 3, between 8am and 5pm and will be officially opened by Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Cllr Brian Wombwell on Thursday, November 1, at 10am.

Visitors to the market will be able to sample mouth watering foods including freshly baked French bread and cheese, tartiflette, nuts and olives, Polish sausages, German Bratwurst and Spanish Paella to name a few.

Encourage Shoppers

The event has been organised by the Economic Development team at Broxtowe Borough Council on behalf of the Beeston Business Forum as part of an initiative to encourage shoppers to use the town for return visits as well as creating a colourful and continental atmosphere in the town centre.

Chris Timson, Chair of the Beeston Business Forum, said: “I'm pleased to welcome back a continental market once again. In combination with the farmers' market and the regular market, it demonstrates the vibrant nature of trade within Beeston and the huge local demand for a large range of good quality produce.”

Beeston’s traditional market will also be held at its usual location on Willoughby Street on the Friday and Saturday.

Number of Events

The Beeston Business Forum is also planning a number of Christmas events this year including contributions to the Christmas lights switch on, a Christmas window display competition for shops and a Treasure hunt style competition for shoppers.
