Crime Levels Smashed
29 April, 2008
This means that 2,390 lesser victims of crime have benefited from better crime prevention methods, increased community policing and work with residents in tackling crime.
Over the past three years the CDRP has focussed on tackling a wide range of crime and anti-social behaviour and has seen particular success in reducing car crime and house burglary within the Borough.
Successful Initiatives
This has been effective with the help of a number of successful initiatives including environmental improvements, high profile policing through the special ‘weeks of action’, enforcement of anti-social behaviour and designated public place orders the deployment and increase in CCTV cameras.
Drugs education and youth diversion has enable young people to make informed choices about the use of drugs and alcohol and to engage in sporting activities. Publicity around burglary and vehicle crime initiatives and seasonal crime campaigns has assisted in raising awareness throughout the borough.
For the victims of burglary provision has been provided through the ACORN security scheme and outreach support continues to be provided to victims of domestic violence.
”Significant reductions”
Cllr Frank Prince, Chair of Broxtowe Borough Council's Community Safety Forum, said: “I'm absolutely delighted that we've seen such significant reductions in crime across the area over Broxtowe, in the past three years has shown a positive picture of sustained improvement and work in 2008/09 will focus on those areas which need further improvement. “The South Notts Crime and Disorder Strategic Assessment will pave the way in tackling issues that are of concern to residents and businesses within the Borough.” For more information on the CRDP in Broxtowe Borough contact 0115 917 3754 or visit the website at www.broxtowe.gov.uik
