Dancers receive special treatment

19 May, 2008

dancers-get-special-treatment Internationally renowned Ballet Dancers have received some special treatment from Castle College to help them relax during their UK tour.

The New English Contemporary Ballet (NECB), the foremost contemporary ballet company in the country, opened their sell–out UK tour on May 10.

With a gruelling schedule including rehearsals for 8 hours a day and performances at 18 venues, they are definitely in need of some relaxation!

Dancers

Two dancers from the troop; Claudia Czyz from Germany and Marina Sanchez from Spain, took a break from rehearsals to visit the College’s Whiteley Mill Campus in Stapleford to receive some well deserved pampering.

They were treated to foot massage, nail manicures and Indian Head Massage treatments by staff and students, including Kevin Morrell, who has retrained as an Anatomy & Physiology lecturer after 33 years in the police force.

”Delighted”

Claudia said: “I’m delighted to be here today, this is just what we need at the minute! The tour is going really well and we have had a good response.”

Marina agreed: “We need to relax at the minute! It’s so nice to be here.”

Niall McMahon, NECB Artistic Director, who received a Hopi Ear Candle treatment and a massage said: “The tour has started well with great reviews. The dancers have been working really hard, so they deserve to relax!”

Didn’t miss out

The rest of the company didn’t miss out though; the remaining dancers were able to return to the Mill for an evening event where they could receive the same specialist treatment!

The NECB will be performing at the Nottingham Playhouse on June 5.
