The 2007 Multi Cultural Summer Extravaganza takes place this Saturday, July 7 at Round Hill Primary School, Beeston between 11am to 4pm and visitors are in for a treat at this free event.

Music, dancing and singing from various cultures around the world, some performed by adults and some performed by children; face painting, arts and crafts, storytelling, drumming, Kwik Cricket and human table football – all this fantastic entertainment and a chance to taste of food from around the globe.

The activities on offer are exciting and diverse and include everything from Mehndi, the ancient art of body tattooing to Boccia, a game originated in Greece with competitors tossing large stones at a stone target. There will be origami and well-dressing and the Chinese lion dance as well as a chance to have a go at Belly dancing, circus skills or African drumming.

There is a small committee of local people who help to organise the event every year and new members are always welcome.

The group are also looking for people to help volunteer on the day and to help with various tasks including setting out chairs and tables, serving cold snacks and drinks, giving out information and food tickets general marshalling duties, and helping with the Kwik Cricket.
