11 September, 2007

A STAPLEFORD School is looking forward to a term of music, starting with a recorder club.

Fairfield Primary School on Toton Lane, is to start the recorder group for beginners during Monday lunchtime from September 17.

Advanced Group

A further group for advanced children – using treble, tenor and bass recorders will take place on Wednesday lunchtimes for Years 5-6.

This club will have limited places and is designed for children who have already learnt to play the descant recorder to a good standard.

This club will commence on Wednesday, September 19.

Orchestra

Orchestra practice will take place on Wednesday after school and any child from Years 3 - 6 are welcome, as long as they can play an instrument confidently and they can read music.

A spokesman for the school said: “We will be playing a selection of Ragtime pieces to start this term and then we will be preparing ourselves to play some Christmas music, ready for the Year 3 and Year 4 Church Celebrations in December."
