Fire causes blackout

A fire at an electricity sub-station in Bramcote left more than 6,300 homes in the NG9 area in the dark on Saturday evening.

The blaze happened just before 9pm at the sub station on Derby Road.

The blackout affected businesses and homes in Bramcote, Beeston, Wollaton, Stapleford and Trowell.

The power was mostly restored by 10.30pm and the last few by 3.50am on Sunday.
