Fire Service donates Waders
06 February, 2008
Staff and Volunteers at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust are set to benefit from a donation of potentially life saving equipment from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. The Service is donating 13 pairs of waders and 13 life vests/buoyancy aids to help with vital conservation work at the charity’s wetland sites including Attenborough Nature Reserve and at the Idle Valley.
The equipment will help make conservation tasks such as planting marginal vegetation and clearing rubbish safer and more comfortable.
”Access islands”
Reserves Officer John Black, said: “The waders will make working in wetland areas much more comfortable and the life jackets will make it easier for us to work with our boat to access islands and isolated areas of habitat.
“We are very grateful to the Fire and Rescue Service for their support.”
Watch Manager Mick Pearson, of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, added: “We are very pleased to be able to pass on the waders and life jackets to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, where they will not only be used in work to preserve the natural environment, but will also help members of the community to improve their local area.”
