Friesland Sports Centre refurbished

17 June, 2009

The next few weeks will see refurbishments to the Health and Fitness Suite and Junior Gym at Erewash Borough Council’s Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre. The gyms will be outfitted with up-to-the-minute equipment from Technogym.

The new 33-station main gym and 9-station junior gym will be the latest be the latest refurbishments carried out by Erewash Borough Council’s Culture and Leisure Department and will enable all members to use the same up to date equipment that is currently available at West Park Leisure Centre and Rutland Sports Park.

To enable the removal, re-decoration and update to both the gym areas it will be necessary to suspend the Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre’s Health and Fitness programme for a period of two to three weeks.

West Park

Current members at the facility are being encouraged to use the fitness suites located at Long Eaton’s West Park Leisure Centre, or Ilkeston’s Rutland Sports Park. It is an added benefit of membership to be able to use any facility within the Erewash, during the closure.

Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Mike Wallis, said: “We want to make sure that gym members at Erewash Borough Council facilities are going to get the absolute best deal wherever they go in the Borough.

“The refurbishments at Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre will mean that all of our gym facilities will be stocked with the most up-to-date equipment and offer our members a great deal that matches anything they might find at a privately owned facility.”

Updates on progress to the facilities will be displayed at Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre as the work progresses. Members are advised to contact the centre reception for further information.
