Garden Make-over for students!

04 March, 2008

garden-makeover-students-march Next week students in the NG9 area could see their gardens get a make-over!

The Great Big Student Gardening Week takes place between March 8 and 14 with a Great Big Student Garden Party for all involved.

Local councillors and residents in the Beeston area say they would love to see student gardens get a makeover: an oasis of green grass and living colour instead of mouldy green mattresses and towering weeds!

Joined Forces

So local churches have joined forces with the Nottingham University Students Union, Student Community Action team to help local students really make a difference to their local community.

They hope to send out teams of students to work together with local church members with support from Broxtowe Borough Council to help make student gardens look great.

Andrew Knight the Development Worker (Marketing and Publicity) at the University of Nottingham Students Union, told NG9: “The idea is to bring together local residents, community/church groups, councillors, students to give gardens a makeover.

“Students are being invited to nominate themselves as a volunteer or their garden as a site for a bit of a Spring tidy-up.”
