Heritage Open Days this weekend

This year’s Heritage Open Days which take place this weekend, promises something for everyone to enjoy.

The Heritage Open Days sees venues opened to the public which would not normally be so.

Events to look forward to include:



Friday, September 7

• An exhibition in Beeston Town Hall staged by members of Beeston Parish Church between 10am and 4pm



Saturday, September 8

• Beeston Parish Church Bell Tower is open between 10am and 1pm providing spectacular views of Beeston.

• G.H.Hurt and Son - Shawl Factory will be open between 9am and 1pm.

• Bramcote Sunken Church Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 between noon and 4pm. Exciting restoration of 13th century Tower.

• Bramcote Crematorium open between 11am and 3pm.

• Attenborough Nature Centre open Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm (including Special Exhibition on the natural history of Willows and a special Children’s competition).

• The Manor Centre/Swiss Mill starting at 10am - external Guided Walk by Dan Walker of these latest Beeston heritage conversions.



Sunday, September 9

• St.Mary’s Church Attenborough is open between 2.30pm and 4pm.

This year include the newly restored Memorial to Attenborough Railwaymen in the Porch.

• Bramcote Sunken Church between noon and 4pm. Exciting restoration of 13th century Tower.

• 6TH Beeston Scout Headquarters open between 10am and 4pm. (Visit the new Scout Hut and see memorabilia from 100 years of Scouting).

• Attenborough Nature Centre open Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm (including Special Exhibition on the natural history of Willows and a special Children’s competition).

• Stapleford Town Walk. Meeting at 11am at The Roach Stapleford. (Car Parking available at adjacent Car Park) Led by Barbara Brooke of Stapleford History Society.

• Beeston Heritage Walk at 2pm. Meet at The Podium Beeston Square – Led by Robin Phillips.
