Ericsson to switch Beeston jobs to West Midlands

03 August, 2007

Ericsson, the Swedish telecom giant, is set to relocate around 60 jobs from its Beeston site to the West Midlands.

The jobs, in system and test proving, will move to a new £60m facility in Ansty where a purpose-built research and development centre will employ around 600 people.

Construction will begin early next year, with people moving, over a phased period in 2009.

Ericsson currently occupies two buildings at the Beeston site, which under restructuring plans will be down-sized to just one.

However, core research and development teams, will stay in Beeston.

The former Plessey and Marconi facility in Beeston was acquired by Ericsson at the beginning of last year and specialises in optic fibre research and development.
