Over 250 laptops marked at security event

14 November, 2007

Residents have proved keen to take advantage of a free crime reduction scheme that will help to reduce the number of laptop computers stolen.

Over 250 laptops were marked at laptop computer-marking events held over two days in Beeston in October.

Residents from across Beeston, Stapleford, Toton, Attenborough, Chilwell, Trowell and Bramcote brought in their computers to be marked with the Stoptrack property marking and tracing system, which now bring the total number of laptops marked in Broxtowe South to 728.

Pc Dave Banner, who is the beat manager for Beeston, said: “We have again been impressed with how the local residents have embraced the idea and participated in a scheme where the community can actively reduce crime.”

Residents can contact Pc Dave Banner at Beeston Police Station by e-mail: david.banner@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk or calling on 0115 9430999 ext 5662 with any queries.
