Get to know your local police officer

Neighbourhood Policing Teams are responsible for resolving issues identified by the community and working with partner agencies and community leaders to do so.
Teams can be made up of police officers, police community support officers, special constables, neighbourhood wardens, housing officers, anti-social behaviour officers and community groups.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams are having an impact. A few recent examples of the work done by Neighbourhood Police Officers as part of Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the division, include the establishment of Local Area Groups (LAGs) in Beeston and Stapleford, which have been well received by the community and partners.
In Beeston, speeding has been identified as a local priority and speed checks have been done in the area by local officer Pc Dave Banner and a proposal for a Community Speedwatch has been put forward.
Neighbourhood Police Officers have also been involved in organising events for the community. PC Chris Copley, who covers Beeston, helped organise a Gala day to raise funds for youth services.
Divisional Commander for South Nottinghamshire, Chief Superintendent John Busuttil says: “Since the introduction of these teams we have seen more people talking to us and taking opportunities to have a say on what should be treated as priorities in their area.”
The government has promised that every part of the country will have its own dedicated neighbourhood team by April 2008.
