Little Drivers support Rally competitors

01 November, 2007

lombard-update-44 Local Motor club members get backing from Little Drivers of Stapleford.

Club Rally driver John Pearson and his navigator Ian Jones of Carlton and District Motor Club, Nottingham will be taking part in the Lombard Rally starting from Gaydon Motor Museum in Warwickshire on November 8, and tackling the tough 1200 mile event before finishing at the Newport Sports Village in Wales four days later.

Raising funds for Treehouse

John and Ian have carried out fundraising on the Lombard Rally in previous years, raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and "A Chance for Jayne," were going to be taking a year off from fundraising activities until they, along with other entrants, received a letter from the Lombard Rally organisers stating that the event would be supporting the Treehouse charity - raising money for road safety education for children with autism.

John decided that as in previous years he had relied on family, friend's and his work colleagues in Leicestershire Police he would try a different approach, starting by speaking with Stapleford-based soft play centre Little Drivers.

Pledges of Support

They have kindly agreed to support the charity and have spoken with a number of their suppliers to do the same.

In total six companies are making donations sponsoring the crew by donating directly to the charity:

• Little Drivers (Stapleford), a children's soft play centre. • House of Play (Doncaster), a company supplying soft play equipment.
• Janine's (Doncaster), a catering supply company.
• Polar Crush (Northumberland), a frozen drink's supplier. • Accent Print (Nottingham), Digital printers.
• Image works (Nottingham), a vehicle and bike logo and decal company.
John and Ian have been seeded at 49 out of the 120 starters in their 1400cc Vauxhall Astra and hope to pick up further support to make this year’s fundraising as successful as previous years have proved.
