New Development for former industrial site
01 November, 2007
Permission has been given for the site to be used for mixed residential and office development.
Nottingham Agent Savills won planning permission for clients Evans Brothers at a public inquiry.
The site is currently a redundant textile factory premises, previously occupied by Long Eaton Textiles.
“Consent was Obtained”
Roger Freeston, director of Savills, who appeared at the public inquiry, said: "Consent was obtained notwithstanding the local authority's planning policies to protect existing employment sites.
"The inspector clearly took account of the fact that the buildings are surrounded by housing on all sides and that general industry would not be a suitable use for the whole area.
"The office space is capable of creating the same number of jobs as the former dye house and factory at the height of its activity."
