The incident happened when a Royal Mail driver lost his keys during his collection round on Wednesday evening.
However, the boxes were re-opened on Thursday, November 15 after the keys were handed in.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Some keys were lost while a driver did his collection round. "It is an automatic response when keys are lost to close boxes off for security reasons. "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
