Lottery Funding for parks

Children and Young People in the borough will benefit over the next three years after a successful bid by Broxtowe Borough Council and the Broxtowe Play Partnership to the Big Lottery Fund.
An award of £208,818 will be used to fund the following six major projects in the Borough. These include supplying and installing a multi-use games area and teen shelter at Archers Field Recreation Ground, Stapleford and a new play area at Trowell parish hall.
Plus a new play area at Jubilee Park, Eastwood and Basil Russell Park in Nuthall.
Throughout the borough there will be a number of ‘Way Cool Zone’s’ will be implemented – an initiative that looks to increase play opportunities for children with disabilities throughout the Borough.
Plus a Play Worker will facilitate a wide range of organised play activities, help maximise the action of the strategy and co-ordinate play opportunities in the Borough.
Councillor Stan Heptinstall, Portfolio Holder for the Technical and Works Committee, said, “This money will make a massive difference to the children and young people of Broxtowe. The new play sites will be provided in areas where additional provision has been identified through consultation with young people.
“The Way Cool Zone and Play Zone projects are key initiatives across a 3 year period and look to target play opportunities in areas of most need”.
