Broxtowe Mayor names his charity

mayors-charity Broxtowe Mayor Brian Wombwell is pictured here with his deputy Sue Wildey. Councillor Brian Wombwell who was installed as the 31st Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe in May has chosen the NSPCC as the charity he wishes to support during his year in office.

Councillor Wombwell has been a Member of Broxtowe Borough Council since 1996 and is already familiar with the civic role having been the Mayor of Stapleford in 1999 and Broxtowe Borough’s Mayor’s Escort in 2004-5.

Brian is also the Leader of the Town Council and an active member of Broxtowe Borough Council and involved in a number of committees including Planning and Community Development and the Resources Committee.

In 2005 Brian was elected to the Nottinghamshire County Council, representing Stapleford and Bramcote and as a consequence retired from full time work so that he can dedicate more time to his various Council activitites.

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sue Wildey, is the Independent Councillor for Nuthall East and Strelley and was a founder member and secretary of the Nuthall Residents Association in 2001. She was elected onto the Nuthall Parish Council in 2002 and went on to win a seat on Broxtowe Borough Council in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007.

Sue is a member of the General Purposes and Audit Committee and the Community Safety Forum. She has previously been a member of the Planning and Community Development Select Committee, Licensing and Appeals Committee and Alcohol and Entertainment Committee.
