11am - 4pm Many of Shakespeare's plays have been the subjects for operas, and Verdi's Macbeth is one of the most celebrated examples.
This special event explores the relationship between the music, words and gestures, through presentations and discussions, and live performances by singers from Opera North.
The symposium is part of the project 'Music and the Melodramatic Aesthetic', organised by the University's Centre for Music on Stage and Screen.
