31 March, 2008
Website: www.gosportsspexrt.co.ukThe launch of Nottingham’s newest competitive based cycling club took place in Beeston Square on Sunday, March 30 and was attended by the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Brian Wombwell.
GoSportsSpexRT.co.uk is a culmination of young and older riders and boasts several National champions both past and present and as well as riders who have previously represented Great Britain.
One of the youngest members, Sam Lowe, has already won a national cyclo-x title this year in the under-14’s category.
Managed
The team is managed and looked after by Steve Joughin a former international rider and multi national champion, Steve oversees the riders training plans and organises the racing structures.
This year the team will be competing both regionally and nationally as well as a couple of skirmishes abroad.
Last year the team finished on top of the regional team rankings with over 100 points lead, which was great after missing out in 2006, their first year by one point.
40 Members
The team currently consists of around 40 members, which is growing all the time and although it’s core are competitive riders it also has social members who have joined purely for pleasure and the enjoyment of being included in the team environment and keeping fit while being able to ride with other riders locally in and around the Beeston area.
Anyone can join and if you are interested the first point of contact should be the team’s website www.gosportsspexrt.co.uk.
