Go is an ancient board game for two players. It was invented in China about 4,000 years ago and has flourished there and in Japan and Korea.

It came to the West about 100 years ago and there are now players in most countries of the world.

It is a game of skill, intuition and strategy. The board starts empty and players play alternately, placing pieces (called stones) in order to surround territory or capture the opponent's stones.

The rules are very simple but the situations and strategies that come from it can be very complex.

There is a British Go Association and the Nottingham Go club is affiliated to it.

The Nottingham Go Club meets on Wednesday nights in The Crown Inn on Church Street / Middle Street in Beeston at 7.30pm.
