Park retains Green Flag Award

18 July, 2007

Bramcote Hills Park has retained the prestigious Green Flag Award, which is the national benchmark for quality parks and green spaces.

The judging is based on range of criteria including how welcoming, safe and well maintained the park is along with evidence of strong involvement of the local community.

Councillor Stan Heptinstall, Cabinet Member for Broxtowe Borough Council’s Technical and Works Services said: “We are delighted to have retained the Green Flag and that Bramcote Hills Park has been recognised as a first class local facility.

“This is a beautiful park that hosts many community events and attracts visitors from all over the Borough.

“The award is due to the dedication, commitment and skill of all those involved in looking after the Park and the friends, groups and individuals who also work hard to help preserve this wonderful local facility.”

Bramcote Hills Park is the largest park in the Borough with over 30 hectares of attractive parkland and woodland. It boasts a new major children’s play area, woodland walks, cricket pitch and pavilion, trim trail, picnic area and car park.

The Green Flag Award is a key component of the Government’s commitment to create cleaner, safer, greener communities.
