Pedestrain dies after colliding with lorry in Stapleford

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly pedestrian died after colliding with a lorry.

The 91-year-old man was walking along Derby Road, Stapleford, when the collision occurred at around 10.30am this morning, Tuesday, February 19, 2008.

The accident occurred near a pedestrian crossing and involved a blue and white Foden tipper lorry.

Paramedics attended however the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 49-year-old driver of the lorry was not injured in the collision.

Following the accident Derby Road was closed between Church Street and Brookhill Street, however the road has since been reopened.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 0115 967 0999 and ask to speak to the Crash Investigation Unit on ext 2225.
