Play Strategy Launched

04 July, 2007

The first ever Play Strategy for the Borough of Broxtowe will be officially launched on Tuesday, July 10 to coincide with the opening of the new Children’s Play Area at Bramcote Hills Park.

The strategy is the result of months of extensive consultation and research by the Broxtowe Borough Play Partnership.

The strategy was an integral part of Broxtowe Council’s successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund for £208,818 of funding to improve Play in the Borough.

The Partnership comprises a mix of children and young people’s representatives, Parish and Town Councils, Broxtowe Local Strategy Partnership, Nottinghamshire County Council, Broxtowe Primary Care Trust plus many others.

The strategy has five key objectives: understanding the needs and raising the profile of play; improving the quality of play provision; increasing the quality and range of play equipment; increasing the range of play and recreational activities and providing the necessary resources to improve and develop play.

All of these objectives came together to produce a detailed Action Plan that the Play Partnerships will be responsible for implementation over the next five years.
