Volunteers needed to man police stations
25 May, 2007
Volunteers would be on hand to deal with routine requests from members of the public outside of current opening hours.
Officers will then be free to carry out more patrols and community policing duties.
This would mean police stations would be open for longer and be available to assist the public with less urgent issues.
Volunteers would not be asked to do street patrols but should be able to handle general enquiries in the station.
Training would be given.
