Project to be piloted at Beeston Police Station - Posted on: 13 May, 2008
A “Junior Stay Safe” project will be piloted on Thursday, May 22 at Beeston Police Station when two colonies of Beaver Scouts from 1st Chilwell Depot and 2nd Beeston Sea Scouts will visit the station to learn more about the work of the police.
The aim of the project is to educate young people through hands on experiences of the effects of crime and to introduce them to the Police and raise their awareness of basic crime reduction.
It is hoped that the visit will lead to a greater understanding of crime and its effects and if successful the project will be extended to include open days for young people at both Beeston and Eastwood Police stations.
Pilot Session
Broxtowe Borough Council is working with Nottinghamshire Police Safer Neighbourhoods Team, the Fire Service and Nottinghamshire County Council to develop the one-hour pilot session.
Children attending will meet uniformed Police Officers, see a visual presentation of the effects of anti-social behaviour and have access to the CCTV control room, police vehicles and equipment.
An evaluation of the session will enable the project to be adapted if necessary prior to it’s extension to community groups and schools Borough wide. For further information contact Broxtowe Borough Council’s Safer Communities Team.
