Schools gets sports equipment

10 January, 2008

A Nottinghamshire Police officer has helped get sports equipment for two schools in the Broxtowe borough.

Pupils at Chilwell School in Chilwell and George Spencer School in Stapleford will benefit from 700 Tesco Sport 07 vouchers collected by Youth Issues Officer, PC 2647 Karen Crane.

Pc Crane collected the vouchers from colleagues in order to do something positive to help the schools. She says: “ These vouchers will help the schools to purchase more sports equipment.

”Fun and legal way”

“As well as helping youngsters keep fit, it will provide a fun and legal way for children to be entertained and also enable them to make a positive contribution to school life.”

Part of Pc Crane’s role involves looking pro-actively at ways to keep young people in secondary schools out of trouble, as well as giving them crime prevention advice relevant to their age group.

Last month she ran a poster competition with a 'preventing theft and stealing at Christmas' theme in local Primary Schools in the Broxtowe borough.
