Stapleford fire station set for £200,000 revamp
22 November, 2007
Work on the Pinfold Lane station is scheduled to start in May and expected to take four or five months to complete.
The work will be carried out as part of a programme of fire station refurbishments across the county.
Range of improvements
The station will benefit from a range of improvements, including a new community/training room fitted with audio-visual equipment and audio loop for people with a hearing impairment and will be DDA compliant.
There will also be the creation of a dedicated fitness room.
Plus there will be improved facilities for storage and maintenance of breathing apparatus; upgraded locker and kit areas, as well as personnel protective clothing washing and drying facilities and a new shower and changing facilities to meet current equalities legislation.
There will also be upgrading of the vehicle appliance bay to provide fume extraction equipment, charging facilities and new doors and complete external and internal decoration.
Upgrade, modernise and standardise
A spokesman told NG9: “The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is part-way through a programme of station refurbishments to upgrade, modernise and standardise facilities across the county, to make them more suited to the needs of people with disabilities, and to improve the amenities for local community groups.
“We hope that more local organisations and societies will be able to use the station facilities once work is complete.
“We have already completed Newark, Arnold, Harworth, Misterton, Bingham, Hucknall, Southwell and Edwinstowe, and Collingham (near Newark) is due to finish before Christmas.
“We will start work at Warsop station in February, and the Stapleford face-lift should begin in May. This £200,000 project is due to take approx four to five months.
