Babies could benefit from signing classes

30 August, 2007

Local mum and baby signing teacher, Adele Johnson is to expand her baby signing classes to the Beeston area.

Sing and Sign started in 2001 and steadily increased in popularity.

The Sing and Sign programme involves songs and rhymes, teaching simple gestures derived from sign language), which you can use to enhance communication with your baby - known widely as baby signing.

Gestures

Babies naturally go through a very gestural phase between 9-18 months. Sing and Sign aims to show parents/carers some extra and more specific gestures to make this natural form of communicating even more rewarding and beneficial.

Action songs in class make for a relaxed way to become familiar with a wide range of signs. There is no need to study sign language illustratons.

Sing and Sign won gold in the 2007 Best Nationwide Activity for under 2’s, What’s on 4 Little Ones.
