Skate Park officially re-opened

24 April, 2008

skate-park-officially-reopened On Saturday, April 19, the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Brian Wombwell officially re opened the newly refurbished skate and BMX park at Hickings Lane Recreation Ground, Stapleford.

Groundwork Greater Nottingham part-funded and managed improvements to the area working closely with Broxtowe Borough Council.

Contributions were also received from the Crime and Reduction Partnership; Safer, Stronger Communities Fund; Broxtowe Borough Council and Stapleford Rotary Club.

New Layout

The new layout was designed following consultation with users of the existing facility and features two quarter pipes and a central jump box, all at 2 metres high.

The new ramps provide a more challenging alternative to the existing ramps on which many of the current users first honed their skills.

A sound system was on site during the day of the launch and food and refreshments were available. In addition there was a raffle of BMX parts and a graffiti artist added the finishing touches to artwork around the ramps.
