Speed crackdown on Stapleford 'rat run'

01 March, 2008

speed-sign-morrbridge-lane Motorists on Moorbridge Lane in Stapleford will see their speed displayed on a new sign.

Following problems with speeding traffic on that road, which is often used as a ‘rat run’ by drivers avoiding busier main roads, Nottinghamshire County Council has agreed to install an interactive speed sign.

‘slow down’

It will display the speed of vehicles and if they are speeding will flash up a ‘slow down’ message and drivers, doing the speed limit or less will receive a ‘thank you’ message.

The equipment will be installed during the next financial year.

Hickings Lane and Pasture Road in Stapleford have also been the subject of inspection and Nottinghamshire County Council have agreed to install a Short Stay Temporary speed signal on these roads.
