Youngsters wanted for Spooky Project
01 August, 2007
On Wednesday, August 8, a storytelling event will take place on the edge of the woods in Bramcote Hills Park, where tales of the macabre will be presented.
Local actors will contribute stories to the evening, and there will be short performances by groups from Beeston and Stapleford Young People’s Centres.
The free, hour-long event will take place in the Walled Garden, at the Coventry Road end of Bramcote Hills Park at 7:30 pm.
Spooked
The storytelling evening heralds the beginning of Spooked, a project looking at the creepier side of the area. The next stage will be the creation of a play that will be staged at Halloween in the woods.
Nottingham writer Andy Barrett has been out and about collecting ghost stories, as well as looking into the more sinister aspects of the area’s history.
He said: “As with all peaceful places, there has been strange goings on in the past.
“Some of these events provide the central theme for the play we are creating. You could say that it’s a fictional story with a thread of truth running through it.”
No Experience Necessary
Now local amateur performers are being asked to come forward to take part in the production.
No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and the willingness to take part in an outdoor performance at the end of October, which is promised to go ahead whatever the weather.
Rehearsals will take place in the evening and at weekends during September and October.
Anyone interested in taking part or who would like more information about the project should contact 0115 9173695 for more information.
