Spooky Saturday a Success

30 October, 2007

spooky-saturday-comp The Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Brian Wombwell joined in the fun on Saturday when he judged the Halloween fancy dress competition at Broadgate Park as part of the ‘Spooky Saturday’ event organised by the Beeston Business Forum and Broxtowe Borough Council.

Over 300 people attended the event and the children who took part in the competition serenaded the Mayor with spooky noises as they paraded around.

Scary as Possible

The Mayor encouraged the children to be as scary as possible by joining in the noisy fun.

Special thanks also goes to Home Made Bakery for donating a Halloween Cake and the Post Office for donating a goody bag including Harry Potter Stamps and sweets.

Range of Activities

There was a range of activities including children’s entertainment, face painting, have a go circus, walkabout characters and an Art Café to create Halloween crafts. Even more exciting for the young at heart were the two live interactive shows.

The event was so well received the Council and Business Forum are hoping to hold a bigger and better event next year as well as well as arranging a number of other events on Broadgate Park for next year.
