Workers at Boots Logistics vote for strike action

28 February, 2008

staff-boots-vote-strike Staff at Boots Logistics in Nottingham have voted to go out on strike.

The Usdaw (Union Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers) members at the site voted in favour of taking industrial action after 18 months of discussions between Boots and the union.

Workers say are not happy with the changes in terms and conditions resulting from the centralisation of the Boots warehouse and distribution operation.

Recommended offer rejected

The recommended offer was rejected, but Boots said they were unable to make any further changes to the offer.

As a result, Usdaw carried out a consultative industrial action ballot of its members, who voted overwhelmingly in favour of a formal industrial action ballot.

”Over 700 members”

Joanne McGuinness of retail union, Usdaw, commented: “Usdaw has over 700 members at Boots Logistics in Nottingham.

“They were balloted several times on the offer, but rejected it, so we took a formal industrial action ballot with the Electoral Reform Services.

“Our members have voiced their opinion and voted for industrial action. We will be meeting with the company as soon as possible to discuss a way forward.”
