Thieves target Vauxhall Corsa's
20 March, 2008
Nottinghamshire Police is urging all Vauxhall Corsa owners to increase their vehicle security after a spate of thefts.Several Corsas have been stolen and others have had airbags, bumpers and number plates taken.
Most recently a red Vauxhall Corsa was stolen, from Boundary Road, Beeston, sometime between 10.15pm Tuesday, March 11, and 7.30am Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
Thieves also stole a black Vauxhall Corsa from a drive in Inham Road, Chilwell, sometime between 4.30pm, Tuesday, March 11, and 7.20am Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
Elsewhere thieves stole a wing mirror from a blue Vauxhall Corsa, in Ash Tree Square, Bramcote, sometime between 3pm Tuesday March 11, and 8.30am Wednesday, March 12.
The vehicle was later returned to the same road but thieves had taken the front bumper and front number plate, the airbags and the steering column.
”Targeting Vauxhall Corsa’s” Chief Inspector Steve Haylett, said: “Thieves appear to be targeting Vauxhall Corsas, not just for the vehicle itself, but also for parts and number plates.
“Officers suspect the number plates are being stolen, so thieves can then place them on other stolen Vauxhall Corsas, creating a false vehicle identity.
“In an effort to prevent other Corsas being targeted, owners are advised to fix steering wheels locks and ensure car windows and doors are secure.
“Owners should also ensure number plates are screwed to the bumper.”
