Teachers vist Toton School

30 May, 2007

toton-teachers-visit Teachers from 15 schools across the Borough of Broxtowe visited Bispham Drive Junior School in Toton to share ideas and experiences about developing environmental projects within their school grounds.

Over the years, a number of exciting features have been developed on the school grounds, including a wildlife pond, a turf maze, tree carvings, an adventure play area and a shadow sundial.

Vegetables from the school’s vegetable patch are used to prepare children’s meals in the kitchens, and the facilities in the grounds are incorporated into the curriculum, as well as supporting themed weeks and extra activities.

The ‘Your School Your Environment’ project, organised by the Broxtowe Partnership, seeks to bring teachers together to build networks, share experiences and ideas and support sustainable and environmental education across the Borough.

The ‘Your School Your Environment ‘project is planning to hold another event in the autumn, focussing on energy use and conservation.

For further information about ‘Your School Your Environment’ please contact Clare Littleford at Broxtowe Borough Council 0115 9173654.

The Broxtowe Partnership includes Broxtowe Borough Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Groundwork Greater Nottingham and Greenwood Community Forest.
