Warning over univited callers in Beeston
14 February, 2008
Last week, a person knocked on a resident's door offering gardening services to householders.
The householder was unable to pay the amount and refused an offer to be taken to the bank.
Became Abusive
The trader didn't take too kindly to their offer being refused and became abusive. The trader drove a van with a trailer on the back.
In a separate incident during the week, a person doorstep calling, posed as a Water Board official and went on to force their way into a house in Beeston and stole money.
Councillor Glynn Gilfoyle, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Partnerships, said: "These were both frightening incidents and I would urge people to follow our advice to ensure they don't get ripped off or become the victim of a scam or a distraction burglary. “If you have any doubts then contact Consumer Direct on 08454 040506."
