Wetherspoon's put in new bid for Stapleford Pub
30 March, 2008
Wetherspoon’s have submitted a new planning application to build a pub in Stapleford, despite being refused permission last year. The pub wants to demolish the old Health Centre on Derby Road and construct a purpose-built unit, with parking and CCTV.
Create up to 50 jobs
The project is estimated to cost around £2m and create up to 50 jobs.
However, last year Broxtowe Borough Council’s Control and Development Committee turned down an application by Wetherspoon’s on the grounds it would add anti-social behaviour and noise to the area, which residents already had to tolerate from other pubs nearby.
If the project is given the go ahead work could begin by November with the pub open and trading for business by the summer of 2009.
