Wilko don't rule out move to Stapleford
07 August, 2007
The statement comes in response to speculation that the company may be taking over the former Kwik Save shop on Derby Road.
Currently the family-owned home and garden chain has 280 stores in towns and cities around England and Wales and is on target to have 370 by 2010.
As one of the UK’s fastest-growing high street retailers, Wilkinson opens around 20 new stores a year in England and Wales.
”Welcome the Opportunity”
A spokesman for the company, told NG9: “Already a household name in its heartlands of the North of England and the Midlands, the family-owned company would welcome the opportunity of opening in Stapleford as part of its ambitious expansion programme.
“However, we cannot comment on any specific site or scheme at this time.”
Vision
Wilkinson was founded in 1930 by JK Wilkinson to deliver his vision of providing customers with extensive choice allied to the highest possible standards of service - but at the lowest possible prices.
Wilkinson serves more than three million customers a week and sells more than 25,000 products for the home and garden.
Many residents will remember the first Wilkinson shop which was opened in March 1975 and closed in 1979 on the site of the current Co-op store.
